How To Make Money With Your Blog

Online advertising has been experiencing astronomical growth .According to research conducted by Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers internet advertising revenues touched $16.8 Billion during 2006 which is a 34% increase over $12.9 Billion generated in 2005.What does all this mean to you and me? Well, what it means is that you can get a share of the online advertising pie.

In the bygone days , a technically challenged person had to hire a web designer to put together a website. When it received enough traffic ,he began searching for profitable unobtrusive ads. There was always the fear of losing the visitors with pop ups,pop-unders and irrelevant ads cluttering the site. All that is now in the archives of our memory lane. Now it's so ridiculously simple that you don't even need a website to earn from the internet advertising boom. You can create a blog on a topic of your interest and have thousands of advertisers stalking you and fighting for space on your site through bidding wars.If you don't already have a blog ,you can start your blog at Blogger for free. The advent of contextual ads has made it possible for you to show highly relevant ads your blogs and never have to fear about disgruntled visitors.

The foundation for contextual advertising was laid by google with their Adsense program and numerous entrepreneurs followed suit introducing a platform for serving contextual and customizable ads.If you have a blog , then you can sign up with one of these advertisers or more and start earning from the traffic your blog receives. At the top of the list is Google Adsense :

Google Adsense : My journey with adsense began when I read an article about an online entrepreneur earning $90,000 from his dating site.Honestly, I didn't like the layout of his site , but it's the content and the traffic that's more important when it comes to internet advertising. To have Adsense ads showing on your blog you have to signup for a Free Adsense account and wait for your blog to be approved by Google.Once approved you can add google adsense to your blog or website and start earning from the contextual ads.You can customize the ads that you show on your site. The minimum payout for google adsense is $100.They have some strict terms to be fair to their advertisers.I suggest you go through their terms in details and join Google Groups if you signup with Google Adsense. They pay via cheque or electronic fund transfer depending on your demography.

Bidvertiser : Bidvertiser pays you handsomely for their ads showing on your blogs.Once you signup for a Free account with them you can choose which ads to show on your blog or website from a categorized directory of websites. The minimum payout for Bidvertiser is $10 and they pay by Paypal.Paypal is an online payment processor owned by Ebay and you can signup for a free account with them. Like Google Adsense ,you can customize the layout of the ads for bidvertiser as well. The best part is that Bidvertiser displays the ads from the highest bidder on your blog|website.

Adbrite : Another site making waves with it's Advertising program is Adbrite. In addition to text ads and banner ads they also serve Active Interstitials (AI).AI is high-paying full-screen ad shown on the third pageview. You can signup as a publisher at Adbrite for free.Their minimum payout is $100.The site pays you 75% of the amount an advertiser pays per click.

Bidclicks : This is a site with a difference. It let's you , the publisher, set the price for your site and advertisers compete to advertise on your site .Thus by selling the space to the highest bidder you can generate the highest profits from the ads. They have a large pool of advertisers. As of now they have 11,000+ advertisers on their site , but they need a higher quality site than the others ,including Google adsense.

Valueclick media: As a publisher of Valueclickmedia you can earn not just by displaying their banners and pop unders ,but also video ads. They pay for cost per thousand impressions (CPM).You can also earn with them for generating leads. They have a minimum traffic requirement of 3000 impressions per month to join as a publisher. If a new publisher links to ValueClick Media from your website and/or joins the site, you receive a bonus of 5 percent of their net earnings for the first 12 months the referral is active. The minimum payout is $50.They pay by cheque and paypal.

Several other advertising networks are competing to break into the contextual advertising domain. You can show their ads on your blog or website for free and make money online through internet advertising .Most of these ads can be displayed along with Google Adsense but if you want to run two different advertiser's ads on your blog , I suggest that you get the confirmation from the respective ad networks. If the internet advertising boom in the recent years is any indicator ,then it won't be a surprise if most of the mainstream advertising programs start paying for showing video ads soon.

That's informative! Thanks for the advise. I am just starting out in this blog thing and not quite familiar with its ins and outs.
