Why is organizing your blog necessary ?

A simple and yet essential technique to retain your traffic and convert then to regular visitors is organizing your blog in proper categories. When a visitor lands on your blog through search engines and finds it hard to navigate around the site , you are sure to lose him.This is reflected in the Bounce rate of the traffic.If you use google analytics or any similar software to track your traffic , you would invariably find a high bounce rate for sites that aren't organized.

Organizing your blog also helps the search engine spiders to crawl through your web pages and index your blog under the right themes and categories thus making it simpler to find your site under those search terms.Wordpress allows you to categorize your posts making it easy to organize your blog.For the blogs on blogger, you have labels or tags to navigate around your posts.Although the tags assist the search engine spiders to read the content , it doesn't help a visitor to appraise the content of your site at a glance.

However, the new Blogger has elements called "link lists" that you can use to add outgoing links to other blogs from your blog.I have used this feature to organize my blog into three main categories as you can see on the left.It's actually pretty helpful in organizing your blog. All you have to do is identify the main categories you need for organizing your blog. On the dashboard, click on the layout button beside your blog and click on add page elements.In the pop up box , click on the "Add to blog" button under the link list and then write the category in the title box.In the number of links box fill in as many posts you would like to include under the category.If you wish, you can change it at a later point.In the "new site url" box, add the url of the post that you want to add under this category and in the "New site name" use one of the labels from your post or an anchor text that best describes the post.When you click on Add link , it will be added under the category.Just rinse and repeat the process to add as many categories you want to create to get your blog organized.

When you add a new post to your blog, always make sure to add the url under the right category.Organizing your blog won't just facilitate the visitors and search engines to navigate your blog better , it will also help you keep track of your posts and increase your repeat visitors.
