Next time you login into your google adsense account , you may be pleasantly surprised with higher cost per clicks for ads from your existing web pages showing contextual ads from Google content network. Granting a longstanding wish of adwords advertisers , Google content network has opened it's doors to third party vendors to advertise using display ads.
This development means that there will be a wider variety of ads for adsense publisher sites who choose display ads for their sites. Google adsense program will ensure that the advertisers maintain the quality standards. The adsense team believes that the competition for placements on publisher sites will result in increased revenue for publishers.Here is an excerpt from the Adsense announcement :
"Third-party ad serving will introduce a greater variety of advertising into the Google content network, increase the inventory of quality display ads competing to show on AdSense publisher sites, and offer more engaging ads for end users. In the long run, we believe the increased inventory and ad competition will result in increased revenue for many AdSense publishers."
The third party ads will be presently served only in English and adsense will progressively look to expand to other languages.The publisher will have total control on blocking ads that might compete with their own ads showing on the sites. The "Ad review centre" can be used to control the ads showing on your site by filtering display ads that compete. Most adsense publishers have welcomed the development and are expecting a rise in adsense revenue from third party image ads.
